Het strand onder in beeld is breder, hier is al gesuppleerd, verder naar horizon moet er nog zand opgespoten worden. Het strand is extra breed gemaakt om een tweede duinenrij met duinvallei te maken, natuurcompensatie in verband met de aanleg van de Tweede Maasvlakte. .Op het verbreedde strand is helm aangeplant om wegstuiven van het zand te voorkomen. De Delflandse kust is een van de 'zwakke schakels'..The coast of Delfland, between Hoek van Holland and The Hague, is being strengthened by means of sand-supplementation. The beach in the lower part of the picture is wider, sand has already been supplemented, in the direction of the horizon sand still needs to be sprayed onto the beach. .Extra sand has been applied to make an extra dune valley on the beach. This so-called nature compensation is necessary because of the construction of the nearby Maasvlakte 2 (land reclamation for Port of Rotterdam).
