De verontreinigde baggerspecie komt voort uit het onderhoudsbaggerwerk in de Rotterdamse haven waarbij de haven op diepte wordt gehouden. De vierkante plaat is een drijvend eiland voor broedende visdieven.
The Slufter area in the South-West of the Netherlands, large-scale depot of contaminated harbor sludge from the Port of Rotterdam. Along the edge of the Slufter windmills are built. The square plate is a floating island for nesting common terns.
